Surgeries

Back in August Brayden had a minor surgery for personal reasons.

She was a champ. Brandon took off work and took good care of her and all went smooth.

Well, the surgery didn't quite do what it was supposed to do all the way and she had to have it again, this time, in December.

She was as brave as she could be but still very anxious to have to do it again.

This time it was just me with her and her brothers came along.

 She enjoyed playing with my phone.

 Since we were near reaching our deductible with her I took her and Kaleb to see the ENT. They both had huge tonsils that made it hard for them breath and sleep and I wanted them out!

Good thing the ENT agreed and worked with us to get them scheduled before the year was up so a week before Christmas they got their tonsils and adenoids out.

 The first twelve hours was pretty rough. Poor Kaleb was so upset when he woke up. His eyes just said, "what did you have done to me?"

 24 hours later they were doing much better, but there was no talking, no whining, no screaming, no fighting. It was so nice!

 About two to three days later they were both up and feeling better again, talking, and Kaleb was even screaming and whining again.

 Kaleb bounced back real fast. Brayden still had pain while eating certain things and had to take it easy a little longer. The doc told us between days 7 and 10 post op there was a chance for them to start bleeding and so I watched for that. Sure enough the evening of day 10, Brayden said she had been tasting blood. The doctor said to take them in for excessive bleeding so that was the hard part, to decide what's excessive. When she spit her saliva wasn't  bright at all. Just a little tinge of blood so we thought it was just a little. Then she coughed up a big clot and I became concerned. We got her ready to go to the ER and texted the doctor. He was concerned as well and agreed she needed to go to the ER. Right before Brandon and she left, she threw up tons of blood. That was pretty scary. The on call doc was awaiting there arrival and she was seen really fast. The bleeding had stopped but they still wanted to put her under and cauterize the area. 

So Brayden had surgery #4. 

She stayed in the hospital for another day and slept a lot. The great thing is she didn't have any pain afterwards. She had to have a liquid diet for three days and that was the hard part for her. This was a week ago and she is almost all the way better now. Poor girl couldn't catch a break. She's a trooper.
