Last weekend we surprised the kids with a little trip to the North Pole...
also known as The Bass Pro Shop.
This humongous hunting/camping/boating/fishing store sets up a fun "Santa's workshop" every year and offers free photos with Santa so we got the kids dressed up to go see Santa.

They both did really great. Santa was really nice and spent a lot of time talking with each of them. Brayden was really excited, but Kaleb wasn't too sure at first. He just sat there with this look on his face. He looked down at this white glove that was touching his arm and didn't know what to think. Then right after we stopped taking pictures he started to grin a little...of course.
Brayden told Santa she wanted Sleeping Beauty for Christmas. I knew exactly what she was talking about because we had just seen this sleeping beauty miniature princess set in the store the day before.
Kaleb remained mute and when Santa asked him if he wanted toys for Christmas, he just said no.
We tried to get him to agree to something, but he just kept saying no.

That was just the start of our night. The rest of store was pretty neat for the kids to explore. It was like an indoor zoo, but all the animals were stuffed and you can touch them if you wanted.

The next day we had our ward Christmas breakfast. They were taking pictures of each family for the ward website so we came picture ready.
I snapped a few of the kids beforehand.

This is Brayden's "
you told me not to pick the berries off the bushes, but I did it anyway, and what are you going to do about it" look.

There must have been a cute two year old that walked by.

It's rare to get them both smiling at the same time.

...but we managed to do it.
We're enjoying the season so much right now...maybe the last pleasant winter we'll know.
We're heading out to Chicago for Christmas and hope we have lots of snow!
