When it came to Easter egg hunts this year, we had two choices. The one put on by our stake or the YMCA. The YMCA was having a helicopter egg drop which sounded cool. We often attend the YMCA activites and they aren't usually well attended. The stake Easter egg hunt, on the other hand, we thought would be too crazy. Our ward alone has over 100 primary kids. We didn't want to deal with that so we opted out and decided on the YMCA.

We no sooner arrived at the YMCA to realize we had made the wrong decision when we saw the crowd. We had to park ways away and walk across busy streets. By this point it was too late to change our minds since the stake hunt was already over.

When we entered the park we had to first wait in long registration lines to registar our kids and receive wristbands. Only one of us was allowed to go with them since they were in the same age group. After registering we still had to wait 45 minutes before the hunt would begin. There were 14,000 people that showed up. It was crazy.

The Easter bunny was there so we decided that while we wait we'll go see him and get a picture (which saved us a trip to the mall later that day). After we were done with that we all agreed, including the kids, that we did not want to be there. I told the kids they may get one or two eggs tops. Besides, who knows how safe this helicopter drop would be. It was the first year that they were doing this.

Instead, Brandon dropped me off at home, and took the kids out to lunch. In the meantime I pulled out our Easter egg stash and began stuffing them with the kid's old halloween candy. It worked out great.
By the time they got back, I had all the eggs layed out in the front yard.

Brayden was to get the pink and purple ones, Kaleb was to get the blue and green ones. The orange and yellow ones were free for all and up for grabs.

They both filled their buckets up to the rim and were very happy.

I think this is the way we need to do this every year!

Here's a video of the hunt. It would've been more action packed video if we stayed at the Y but we enjoyed the peace at our home. Just ignore my commentary.
