We had a nice relaxing Labor Day weekend as a family. On Saturday we went to a parade in a nearby small town 40 min away. (That was the closest exciting thing going on.)
When we told Brayden we were going to a parade she got really excited and ran to go get her "instrument." She kept yelling, "Where's my instrument? Where's my instrument?" She found her recorder and wanted to bring it with us.
Then it dawned on me...the only parade she's ever known has been her "marching parade" for music playtime. The kids play their instruments while marching in a circle for a few minutes.
It was amusing. But this was their very first real parade...
After nap time Brandon barbecued for us and after dinner we went to our community pool. It was surprisingly comfortable to be outside (which is very unusual around here in Sep). We played around for a good hour at the pool until we saw the rain clouds move in. We made it out to the car just in time. It doesn't rain ALL summer and the one time we go to the pool it rained on us...but I'm not complaining. It was so nice to finally get some moisture.
